As a licensed practical nurse (LPN), you work will under the supervision of doctors and registered nurses (RNs), performing duties such as taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medication, ensuring patient comfort, and reporting the status of their patients to the nurses. As a registered nurse, you are key monitor of clients’ health through observing and assessing their records, symptoms, and reactions to their care plan. This role often has extensive interaction with clients’ families as well, guiding and instructing them in after care measures. You will be expected to regularly perform at least some of the following tasks: implement care plans, administer medications, document treatment as required by the care plan, assess patients’ conditions, assess and evaluate clients’ needs for, and responses to, care rendered, apply sound nursing judgment in clients care plan management decisions, provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, direct, guide, train and supervise home health attendants and CNAs according to the client care plan.
